ACCIONA Group

Leaders in infrastructure, renewable energies, water and services.

Created in 1997 following the merge of Entrecanales y Távora and Cubiertas y MZOV, ACCIONA inherited from the original companies a philosophy based on the quality, profitability and technical rigour of its work. Present in more than 30 countries spread over five continents; it currently has more than 35,000 employees.

ACCIONA is an international company which develops and manages activities focussed on contributing to social welfare and sustainable development, principally renewable energies, infrastructures, water and services. The companies belonging to the group share a philosophy for project management aimed at maximising profitability and contributing profits to sustainable development. This permits the extraction of synergies between the different businesses which, together with highly professional management, has enabled the achievement of excellent returns in strategic businesses.

One of the principal landmarks in ACCIONA’s recent history was the strategic support for Endesa in 2007. This was the start of a new period where energy went from being an area of diversification for the company to form part of the principal core of its activities. In this way, the Company, with a model of sustainable development, was given an excellent opportunity to confront one of the major challenges of society: the supply of energy large scale and the development of a global energy model.

The challenge facing ACCIONA is to become a sustainable company of reference and leaders in the transition towards a low carbon economy. The platform on which its business is focussed, and where the current social and economic reality is understood, is summarised in our slogan, ‘Pioneers in development and sustainability’, which forms an integral part of all the activities.

For the second consecutive year, ACCIONA’s commitment to sustainability has been endorsed with the recognition received in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index as leaders in the sector, an achievement which serves, rather than as an objective achieved, as an incentive to seek new challenges to enable us to continue being pioneers.

In addition, ACCIONA also forms part of other indices which assess sustainability in investment; these include the S&P Global Clean Energy Index, the Standard & Poor Global clean energy index and the KLD Global Climate 100 Index, the objective of which is to foster investment in the one hundred multinational companies which show themselves to be leaders in the battle against climate change through the use of renewable energies, clean technologies, efficiency and fuel for the future.
